basking in the glow of an imagined future
“Those hours given over to basking in the glow of an imagined future, of being carried away in streams of promise by a love or a passion so strong that one felt altered forever and convinced that even the smallest particle of the surrounding world was charged with purpose of impossible grandeur; ah, yes, and one would look up into the trees and be thrilled by the wind- loosened river of...
This weekend was uncharacteristically blahhhh. I was plagued with bad moods and headaches and even a bad dream that felt so real (Clay hit my face and dislodged my corneal flap amongst other misadventures).
On Saturday I lounged around at home in the morning then met Clay in Monterey Park for lunch. Yiliu texted me randomly and it felt like a miracle that she wasn’t working and I happened...
a happy president's day
Instead of going to work, I woke up slowly and romped around L.A. with Jenny yesterday. We had lunch at Joan’s on Third which was so delicious. Simple clean flavors. We shared a brisket sandwich that was dripping with I-don’t-know-what but is making my mouth water now. We shared two vegetable sides—brussel sprouts with dates and wax beans with edamame. Afterwards we walked up the...
POINT MUGU! LA JOLLA LOOP!
It was a wonderful-super-califreakingawesome get-away and last little trip for Leah before she goes on her BIG trip—WWOOF-ing on a coffee farm in Hawaii. (WWOOF = World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). Click for pictures, I’ll let them do (most) of the talking.

mugu anticipation
YA’LL. I cannot wait for the clock to strike 5 because my baby and me (and a couple awesome friends) are headed a little ways up the coast to camp at Point Mugu. We’ll roast smores, hike the La Jolla loop (#3, YA’LL) and return for church on Sunday.
valentine's day
This Valentine’s was my first living in the same state as Clay. I didn’t realize that we’ve spent two Valentine’s separated by 1,000 miles. How tragic. (But not really because Valentine’s 2011 and 2010 were actually really wonderful.)
When I walked out the door early Tuesday morning, there was a brown paper bag filled with Valentines grams and candy leaning against...
swearing-in ceremony
I was sworn-in as an attorney yesterday afternoon. Clay stood near to take pictures. It was a hectic arrangement with Clay and I rushing downtown on our lunch breaks but I was tired of waiting for the “right” time. The time was now!
As I considered who to administer the attorney’s oath for me I felt hesitant and unsure about judges or clerks or officers that I didn’t know....

weekend
This weekend was slower. Not one adventure after another but centered around meals and conversation and time in my room. It was restful. And I loved it.
On Friday night I went climbing with Clay, ate Sushi Island to-go and promptly fell asleep. Saturday had WINGs in the morning and Veggie Grill with the GGs for lunch.
Awkward picture in the parking lot of the Grove’s farmers market.
