8 bits
1. I visit the Starbucks across the street from work at least once a week. The parking lot attendant recognized me on the sidewalk yesterday afternoon as I walked back to work from lunch. He shouted, “HI FRIEND!” with a big smile on his face and just about made my day. I will write him a card for Christmas.
2. My boss is beginning to receive goodies from doctors/acquaintances/friends/etc. and yesterday he gave me and E permission to eat them. E says the cookies are the “bad kind” (whatever that means), so now they’re ALL MINE!!!
3. Yesterday I met Clay for dinner at “Alibi Room” and they gave our food away. The bartender’s response when we told him we never got our food—“How do I know you didn’t give your tacos away?!” SERIOUSLY DUDE? WHY WOULD WE GIVE OUR TACOS AWAY?
It’s okay because he gave us our food for free in the end, but what a dumb thing to say to customers.
4. To combat the stress of traffic, I’ve been listening to Tim Keller’s series on Hebrews this past week and half and heard all of them at least twice. In this way traffic has turned out to be a tremendous blessing. I am looking forward to hearing them all again, because they are really that good.
5. Monday marked the first GG prayer meeting and I am out-of-my-mind excited by what took place and what God will do in us for the rest of our lives. Dreaming a little big aren’t we? You bet.
6. My boss brought me a tiny apple tart for no apparent reason today.
7. Jean took me to “Jar” to celebrate my passing the bar on Tuesday. We had wine, ate crab deviled eggs, Coq au vin braised in red wine, bacon, pearl onion and crimini mushrooms and Chopped sirloin stacked with a fried egg and green peppercorn sauce over soaked sourdough. Crazy. Good.
8. This above all—I am experiencing intimately the depth of God’s faithfulness and love these days. Not only was I forgiven, but He has made me worthy! That which is despicable has been made MOST loved. He has set me free! Hallelujah.
